I actually did this with our youngest child when he was about 6 months old. It was a huge relief since our family does have a history of eye problems. The eye exam is more comprehensive than what you get at a pediatric check-up. It was completely free and the doctor we went to was very helpful and accommodating since a baby isn't necessarily the best patient.
